The First 2 Weeks...

Today Bailey is 2 weeks old! It has gone by too quickly!! She is growing, getting a little personality, following our voices and hands, and overall she is more alert. She is absolutely amazing! We love to just sit and watch her, play with her, and just love on her. Tomorrow she will have her two week check up, and we will see how much weight she has gained!! We think she weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces, but we will see at the appointment! For me, these last two weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions coupled with a lack of sleep and overwhelming feelings of love!

Most of our first week was spent in the hospital, we spent from Thursday to Monday in the hospital.  We had some visitors, but because I was feeling under the weather it was limited.  I felt very exposed, in pain, and overall groggy, so thank you to everyone for understanding!  Some of my immediate family cam to visit and I think everyone loved Bailey!  On the first day the visits were to the NICU and finally everyone was able to come and visit her in our room!!

When we were finally released, it was a little bit overwhelming to be released actually, everyone kept saying “ohh you will be happy to leave the hospital”, but for me I was kind of scared. I was still in a lot of pain, at the hospital I had good pain medication, I was forced to sit for long periods of time, I had all kinds of bars to help me get up and down, and I had people checking on me making sure I was okay, and to me this whole surgery thing was new. Before this I had never been to the hospital, I had never had surgery, and I had never taken any pain medications (I think I took something when I got my wisdom teeth out). When we arrived home it was nice to introduce Bailey to Roxy and her new home! My parents had decorated our house and it was very nice to feel so loved!

Thank you to my Mom, she has been here whenever we have needed her the last two weeks. I can not THANK her enough!! from holding Bailey, to making sure Tony and I eat, to cleaning and laundry and just being here for us. The first couple days home were hard physically for me, everyday feels better from there on out. Tony has been a lifesaver helping me with everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING! He has taken care of me and Bailey so well. Bailey is the easy part of the equation, taking care of her comes naturally to me. I feel like I just know what to do. She is eating great, we were having some difficulty with her latching on while breastfeeding, primarily due to her NICU visit where she was introduced to a bottle and formula because they had to. She got really used to that, and it made the first couple days a challenge on us both!! Now she is a PRO and we are both feeling much better about the experience!

She had many firsts in the first two weeks...

Her first night home:

She had her  first stroller ride:

She had her first sponge bath:

She visited the Pediatrician:

Her first family party:

Her first outing with Mommy and Daddy:

Meeting some of her cousins (well 2nd cousins!):

There are soo many other firsts, but these are some of them from the first 2 weeks! Bailey is doing well! We love her to pieces! I am recovering slowly but surely, it will be another week before I can think about driving, and another 6 weeks until I am fully recovered, so the process will be a loooonnnggg one!! When I look at Bailey, everything is worth it, no matter how bad I feel. The love we have for her is unconditional, and we would do anything for her. Here are some more pictures from the first two weeks!!
